Terms of use

These terms are an agreement between you and CircleRoll LLC ("we", "us") covering the AssuredAuth apps for iPhone, Android, Apple Watch and Wear OS, the AssuredAuth browser extension, and this website. By using AssuredAuth you accept them. If you do not, please do not use it.

1. What AssuredAuth is, and is not

AssuredAuth is an authenticator. It stores the secret key a service gives you when you turn on two-step verification, works out the one-time codes that key produces, and keeps them where you can read them. It also keeps passwords you choose to save, and includes a private web browser.

AssuredAuth does not hold your accounts. Two-step verification is turned on, and off, on each service's own website, under that service's terms. A code from AssuredAuth is accepted or refused by that service, not by us, and if a phone is lost with no backup and no export, the service is the one that can let you back in, through its own account recovery. We cannot recover a key that was never backed up, because we never had it.

Nothing AssuredAuth shows you is security advice about any particular account. Which services to protect, and how, is your decision.

2. Who may use it

You need to be old enough to hold the accounts you protect with it and to enter into this agreement where you live; where a store sets a minimum age for the app, that age applies.

3. Your data, and keeping it

Your keys, codes and passwords stay on your device unless you turn on backup. With it off, we do not host, receive or process them. With it on, an encrypted copy is kept in your own iCloud Keychain or Google Drive so a new phone can read it, under the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms; turning backup off removes that copy.

With backup off, keeping your data is your responsibility. Deleting the app, resetting the device, or losing it, removes every key — we hold no copy and cannot restore one. If you want your codes to survive a new phone, turn on backup, write a backup file, or use the transfer QR, before you move. A backup file is only as safe as the passphrase you chose and the place you keep it.

4. Subscriptions and payment

• Codes for three accounts, import, export and the transfer QR are free, without an account and without a time limit, and stay that way. Premium adds unlimited accounts, cloud backup, the password vault, the private browser, the watch and widget apps, codes that fill themselves in, the desktop extension and extra profiles. Premium+ adds the private connection for the browser.
• Paid plans are sold through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Those stores take the payment, hold the subscription, and apply their own terms and refund policies. We never see or handle your payment details.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the price shown until you cancel. Canceling stops the next renewal; access continues to the end of the period already paid for.
• A free trial converts to a paid subscription at the end of its term unless canceled first. The app reminds you the day before that happens.
• If a subscription ends, every account you added keeps working and export keeps working; what stops is the Premium layer. Nothing you added is hidden or held back.
• Cancel through the store: on iPhone, Settings → your name → Subscriptions; on Android, Play Store → Payments and subscriptions. Refunds are requested from the store, not from us.

5. The private connection

The private connection carries the traffic of the browser inside AssuredAuth through servers we operate. It applies to that browser only, not to the rest of your device, and you switch it on. You agree not to use it for anything unlawful, or in a way that interferes with anyone else's use of those servers, and we may suspend it for a subscription that does. The servers keep no logs, so a request from anyone for a record of your use has nothing to be given. Availability, speed and the countries offered vary and may change.

6. What you agree not to do

• Use AssuredAuth to gain access to an account that is not yours, or to help anyone else do so.
• Reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract the source, except where the law says you may.
• Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the app, the extension or their outputs as a product of your own.
• Use it in a way that breaks the law, or that interferes with anyone else's use of it.

7. Our stuff stays ours

The apps, the extension, this site, the AssuredAuth name and its design are owned by CircleRoll LLC and protected by copyright and trademark law. You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use them on devices you control, for as long as these terms are in force. The names and logos of the services shown inside the app belong to their owners and appear only to identify the account they protect.

Your keys, passwords and notes are yours. We claim no ownership of them, and with backup off we have no way to reach them.

8. No warranty

AssuredAuth is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and any warranty that codes will be accepted, that a backup will be recoverable, or that the service will be uninterrupted.

Some jurisdictions do not allow parts of this to be excluded. Where that is the case, this section applies only as far as it lawfully can, and your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.

9. Limit of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, CircleRoll LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising out of your use of AssuredAuth, including loss of data, loss of access to any account, or any decision taken on the basis of a code. Our total liability for any claim relating to AssuredAuth is limited to what you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

10. Changes and ending

We may update the app and these terms. If a change materially affects your rights, the app will tell you before it takes effect. Continuing to use AssuredAuth afterwards means you accept the updated terms. You can end this agreement at any time by exporting your codes and deleting the app.

11. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the protection of any mandatory consumer law of the country you live in, and may bring proceedings in your local courts.
